In the current climate, acne is mainly viewed as a cosmetic issue but can cause serious physical and psychological health problems. For example, acne can lead to severe scarring and skin discoloration. It may even worsen the symptoms of other conditions like rosacea and psoriasis. That’s why it’s invaluable to treat your patient’s acne in a way that addresses all its root causes: inflammation, bacteria, oil production, and more.

Laser therapy is an effective treatment for acne because it reduces the size of sebaceous glands, which produce excess oil (sebum) that clogs pores and leads to inflammation and pimples. Existing therapies and medications leave patients with harmful side effects such as discoloration, irritation, and scarring due to inefficient technology. Aerolases’ advanced lasers and devices target these glands directly, resulting in little-to-no side effects.

How Does Aerolase Laser Therapy Work to Treat Acne?

Acne treatments traditionally involve antibiotics and topical creams. Still, these methods are often ineffective at treating severe cases of acne because they don’t address the root cause of the problem: excess oil production by sebaceous glands in your skin.

All ages and skin types are affected when excess sebum combines with dead skin cells to block pores. This process creates different forms of acne, like blackheads (comedones), whiteheads (closed comedones), papules, pustules, and cysts. Aerolase lasers selectively heat the sebaceous glands to reduce their size and increase their ability to produce healthy oils that keep your skin hydrated without causing acne breakouts in the future. The lasers lessen oil production and kill off colonies of p.acnes bacteria which cause inflammation and redness around each follicle opening on the face, chest, or back, resulting in fewer breakouts for your patients.

Aerolase devices also build collagen on and below the surface of your patient’s skin. They can start healing existing blemishes faster while preventing new ones from forming. This means less inflammation and less redness, leading to fewer hyperpigmentation marks!

Aerolase Laser Therapy is a safe and effective treatment with minimal downtime and great results

Aerolase has the most advanced technology in laser skin health. FDA-cleared for mild to moderate acne, including inflammatory lesions of the face and body.

Aerolases’ Neo Elite® is a non-ablative laser that targets the sebaceous glands to reduce oil production, reducing breakouts. The procedure can be done in as little as 10 minutes per session without anesthesia or incisions. Your patients will feel the warmth from the laser on their skin as the device works its magic! Patients may experience some redness afterward for about 24 hours but can return to normal activities immediately. Aerolase treatments are ideal for those seeking a more natural alternative to surgery or injections. Aerolase devices have been proven safe for eliminating acne in specific problem areas of the body.

“I was tired of the current care regimen for my acne patients. I wanted something new that would provide better patient outcomes while providing a cash-pay service to my office. The Aerolase Neo has allowed just that. As a result, my patients are happier and my office is operating more efficiently and profitably.”

How Many Sessions Are Needed?

The number of treatments needed varies from patient to patient, but on average, patients can expect to receive between 12 and 15 treatments over six months to 2 years. The number of treatments needed depends on the severity of your patient’s acne. If you’re dealing with mild acne, only 4-6 treatments may be necessary before seeing results. If you have severe acne, you may need more than 20 treatments before seeing results.

However, the number of sessions may increase or decrease depending on the regiment or combinations you use for your patients’ therapy. Aerolase is an excellent addition to other acne treatments, such as topical prescription medications, salicylic acid peels, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels. When these treatments are combined with Aerolase devices, they produce the best possible chance at healing the skin while minimizing side effects and downtime associated with each treatment method alone.
